I am a firm believer in leaving the past in the past. Learning from what happened and moving forward. HOWEVER, I am so damn new to the MM/Gay and LGBTQ+ Romance reading community that my TBR could probably span the globe a couple of times. NOT EVEN KIDDING!!! I have to go back and read some of the truly great romances that I have missed over the years.
I am a middle aged woman who has been an avid reader all her life. I honestly had no idea this world existed. I spent 2019 learning just as much as I was just enjoying the love stories.
I know I am not the only ignorant woman on the planet to NOT know there is a beautiful…bountiful library of books out there filled with so many wonderfully diverse characters from all walks of life, planets, universes, and realms.
E. Davies taught me the true meaning of transgender through the “F-word series,” and Susi Hawke helped me understand what the heck MPREG stood for and what it meant in her “Northern Lodge Pack Omegas Series.” {I actually have a funny story from childhood I may share one day} Meraki P. Dark helped me fight demons 4 decades old by embracing the demons in his banned book series, “Lil Harvest.”
With the help of challenges in the M/M Romance Group on GoodReads I have pushed myself to think outside the box, learn new things, and discover ways to help fight ignorance as best I can.
With the compassion of authors like Susan Mac Nicol and Noah Harris who exchanged personal emails with me, I opened my view to the world a little wider. Joined Twitter and Instagram last Fall…still trying to figure them out, but I am getting there. Facebook…not happenin’! I feel I can be an advocate for change through my little blog here (that I learned how to use last June).
Opening the minds of people in the world to see there is more beauty and passion in romance than the Fabio “look a likes” and the tiny white women they fold in half while water sprays them from the ocean’s surf.
I would love to know brick and mortar stores Romance book aisles are flooded with LGBTQ Romances. No stigma, no hate, just lots of love and maybe a unicorn or two? A girl can dream. **giggle…
Being confined to bed and the dark a majority of the time sucks hairy donkey balls…and no they are not shifter donkey balls either! **sigh… BUT, with the love and compassion indie authors, fellow bloggers and reviewers have shown me my world twinkles like a thousand stars in an indigo sky.
I have fallen in love with MM/ Gay Romance and the sub-genres that fall under it and I know it isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay too, as long as you realize everyone deserves to find love and happiness in their own way.
So, got off topic a bit…apologies, but the motivation is the same- to read books older than a year (before 2019), in the hopes more people like my ignorant ass will see the gorgeous, sMMexy, MM, tales that await them.
I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I do! I am looking forward to going back in time!
