Equilibrium
by Joel Abernathy
The fate of the pack depends on my ability to make an impossible choice: Victor or Sebastian.
Transforming before the harvest moon was once my biggest concern, but if the Family has their way, none of us will survive that long. Fighting back means resolving the war within, but with my memories intact, I’m no closer to choosing between the twins than I was.
Domination… Deceit… Decadence. They’re all just part of life at the Lodge. Life as the hybrid Prince.
Time is running out, and my divided soul is the only thing standing between the pack I love and the cosmic battle that’s coming to an end, once and for all.

I always find finishing one of Joel’s books so bittersweet. The stories take you on such fantastical journeys. The emotions you experience along with the characters leave you quite invested and for readers like me, even after the book closes thoughts linger on those experiences.
I had decided I would rather be a pointless failure than a meaningful success a long time ago if it meant that I would become a passenger in my own mind.
I honestly thought when I began this journey with Pendulum, that this would be like so many other shifter series I’ve read and enjoyed. I must say that now, my standards have changed and because of this series, the bar by which I judge a good shifter series has been raised.
The complexity of the characters is so multidimensional that you think you have one figured out until another layer unravels. I loved Remus, Seb, & Vik so much! They frustrated me, made me laugh, cry, swoon, sigh, worry, stay up late reading, wake early to read more. They gave me all the feels and I took them gladly.💕
“I can tell you that it takes most people a lifetime to truly love all of a person, whether they’ve got one soul or two. Even then, there’s always something new left to discover. Depending on your perspective, those new discoveries can either be a disappointment or an adventure.”
While we had so many questions answered for us in the third book, there are still others that need answering. I thought this was the final book, and while it may be for the main cast of this trilogy, Joel kinda left the story open-ended (not to be confused with a cliffy) for maybe more books OR perhaps a spin-off? Hopefully??? 👼
Going to just add a few more lines from the book that moved me so deeply. The truths in them is astounding. Enjoy!
‘Nature puts no question and answers none which we mortals ask. She has long ago taken her resolution,’
“Everybody only loves you when you’re dead.”
“The most devout believers usually are branded heretics by those whose faith is in religion rather than a living, breathing entity. Heretics push us to challenge our narrow conceptions and glimpse the broader truths behind them.”
“Love is the one thing you can’t kill, but life tears it apart so easily.”
