Mainly by Moonlight
by Josh Lanyon (Author), Kale Williams (Narrator)
A gay high-society wedding. A stolen book of spells. A love-threatening lie. Can a witch avoid a murder rap without revealing the supernatural truth?
The Blurb: Cosmo Saville guiltily hides a paranormal secret from his soon-to-be husband. Thanks to a powerful love spell, uncertainty threatens his nuptial magic. But when he’s arrested for allegedly killing a longtime rival, he could spend his honeymoon behind bars…
Police Commissioner John Joseph Galbraith never believed in love until Cosmo came along. Falling head over heels for the elegant antiques dealer is an enchantment he never wants to break. So when all fingers point to Cosmo’s guilt, John races to prove his fiancé’s innocence before they take their vows.
As Cosmo hunts for the real killer among the arcane aristocracy, John warns him to leave it to the police. But with an unseen enemy threatening to expose Cosmo’s true nature, the couple’s blissful future could shatter like a broken charm.
Can Cosmo find the lost grimoire, clear his name, and keep John’s love alive, or will black magic “rune” their wedding bells?

MMy Thoughts and Review:
This was my first read/ listen by Lanyon and with the “witchy” premise seemed fitting for the season. I assumed going into it that it would be a light rom/com and part of me wonders with all the references to the TV series “Bewitched,” if that hadn’t been the goal? Maybe? I’m not sure.
Cosmo, MC#1, is a non-practicing, even if a “nose-twitching” from time to time, witch. He has found himself in a pickle by stumbling on the dead body of a competitor.
MC#2, John, is Cosmo’s whirlwind romance fiance and also the police commissioner. John has no idea Cosmo is a witch, or that there is even an actual supernatural species. He does however believe evil exists and everything doing with the occult fits neatly in to that box.
Even though this was a full length novel, it reads almost like a novella. The reader is inundated with so many different characters without a lot of depth to them, that they kept getting jumbled and mixed up.
It felt as if through all the character intros, the moving houses of the MCs and the Kinda sorta vow exchange nothing really happened in the story other than Cosmo lying to John over and over, John throwing down a gauntlet about them being over if Cosmo ever attempted to manipulate him, and John expecting Cosmo to jump when he called but him being gone when things like moving or wedding prep was needed. **sigh…
I am an absolute sucker for series and character arcs, so I am hoping that book two will explain things a bit more. I am sure I will read it at some point, once it comes out. Probably…🔮
The Narration was excellent and helped breathe life into this story! 💗
