MMy Thoughts and Review:
After the last great depression, the world found itself in need of helping to feed and clothe those who had survived. While the rich continued in their upward climb it became essential to put provisions in place to help those not on good footing to keep food on their tables and clothes on their backs.
Government agencies were set up to take care of food, and the oldest occupation on earth was finally legalized and handled by private entities. People who wanted to work as escorts and live-in companions for certain amounts of time could do so legally while earning enough income to support themselves and their loved ones.
In, “Paid to Kneel,” we find a young man, Richard, who has decided to go to work for the Delphic Agency so he can help get his aging father into a good care facility that specializes in Alzheimer’s. Realizing he will need to make more money Richard asks to be paired with someone who will pay more and is matched with Ash, a dominant in the BDSM lifestyle.
I enjoyed this tale and found myself fully engrossed after only a few pages; wanting to know how Ash would handle Richard’s initiation into the lifestyle. I read a post in a BDSM Chat room once, (I’m old, not dead 😂) that stated, “there are as many types of kink under the umbrella of BDSM as there are people holding the umbrella.” I am reminded of that statement each time I read a BDSM Romance.
I loved that the guys in Paid to Kneel used their names rather than the usual Master/ sub monikers often associated with these types of romances. For this particular story, it seemed fitting somehow. The other thing I loved about these two MCs was they were equally matched in every way, with the exception being their financial standing. It was interesting to get a sense of what Richard was going through as he embraced his submissive side for the first time and fully engaged and learned what it meant to let someone else have “control.”
The story is centered around these two men, so the reader gets a very intimate view of the bond that grows from their initial acquaintance into one of friendship. By the time Richard’s two weeks have ended you are at the edge of your seat thinking, “omg, is this how it ends?” Well, I am not going to spoil it for you, you must read the book. I will tell you though, I’m already cranked for book #2. I’ll tell you something else…after book one ends there are a couple of short stories or vignettes that come before the epilogue (chronologically) in book one. They just give a little extra sumpin’ sumpin’ to sink your teeth into. 😘
So, if it’s been a while since you have enjoyed a good kink book…something with some good impact play, chastity play, and switching that also has tenderness and compassion at its core with very low angst and extremely high heat it may be time you grabbed one… or four! I think you should start with this one. I think you’ll fall for Ricky and Ash just like I did.
