Dan’s Hauntastic Haunts: Ivarsson Schoolhouse
By: Alex Silver
MMy Thoughts and Review:
Dan and Chad are growing both in their relationship and in their ghost haunting channel. Now that Chad has come to terms with the fact that he is empathic and open to the spirits more doors are opening.
Nothing creeps me out more in horror films and books than ghostly kids. I am in no way blaming the kids, just in case Casper is reading this, but they give me the heebies. Chad and Dan take a job for a haunting in an old single-room school and what is supposed to be a “normal” easy haunting might just be a dud. Could the guys have been played? Sure strange things had happened there, several deaths have taken place over the years, and since the school closed people had told of things happening to them by unseen things. Others have spoken of hearing voices, the old school bell ringing, etc., but it was an old building, as one of the owners reminded the guys. The owners too were being odd themselves when it came to what they wanted the outcome of Chad and Dan’s visit produce.
Things with Chad and Dan are NEVER easy OR NORMAL, and the guys are in for one wild and Hauntastic ride in the small town. Things are not always what they appear, both in the actions of people living and dead. Every person comes with a story, and Chad and Dan are learning, sometimes those who have passed from this life still need their voices heard.
I loved the back (love)story of the teacher who stayed with the children in the school. It tugged on my heart and made me all squishy inside. The twist at the end I didn’t see coming and I liked that it included such an important aspect of the culture during that particular era, so that was an awesome turn. I felt it brought everything full circle.
I love this series and the characters created by Silver. The storyline is fresh and exciting, the characters have more facets than a priceless jewel. The mysteries keep me guessing while the suspense creates a soundtrack in my head while the story plays out in my mind, keeping me enthralled to the very end.
If you are looking for something fun and different, smart, with twists, humor, and heart, you have found it here in this paranormal series. Hop into the jump seat of Savanna and take a road trip with Dan and Chad. You will have one hauntingly good time.
